MÖTLEY CRÜE's TOMMY LEE Forced To Sit Out London Gig
June 12, 2007MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee was forced to sit out the band's concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London, England last night (Monday, June 11) after suffering an injury to his left arm. Stepping in for him at the last minute was current EVANESCENCE/DARK NEW DAY drummer Will Hunt, who was on a short break from EVANESCENCE's European touring activities following the group's appearance at this past weekend's Download festival.
"We have some good news and some bad news," announced orange-skinned singer Vince Neil after the opening "Dr. Feelgood", according to This is London. "The good news is that we're here..."
Lee occasionally appeared on stage (topless but for an ice pack over his shoulder),most memorably to ask the undeniably pertinent question, "who wants a goddamn swig of Jagermeister?" before French-kissing Neil and swaying off stage.
Hunt previously filled in for Tommy Lee on several MÖTLEY CRÜE North American tour dates in April 2006. Hunt, who had previously backed Tommy in his solo band, took over the drumming duties last year after a member of the Canadian MÖTLEY CRÜE tribute band BRÖKEN TÖYZ stepped in at the last minute to cover for Lee at the band's April 5, 2006 concert at the Enmax Center in Red Deer, Alberta, Canada.
Fan-filmed video footage of MÖTLEY CRÜE perfoming its classic song "Live Wire" on June 8, 2007 at the AB Concerthall in Brussels, Belgium has been posted online at YouTube. More clips from the Brussels concert can be seen here.
NME.COM has MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx's press conference from this year's Download festival, which took place June 8-10 at Donington Park, Leicestershire, England. Watch it in two parts: Part#1, Part#2.
On the topic of the group's current touring schedule, Sixx said, "We love to play live. There's only two more shows for us and we won't be playing again until sometime next year, maybe '09, depending on how it goes on making a record."
